XXL Fouta Towel: How I Use It (and Why I Never Go to the Beach Without It)

People often tell me I'm "too much." I take that as a compliment.

At the beach, while some arrive with just a towel and a book, I show up with a system. A well-oiled, well-assumed, and frankly very comfortable system. Let me explain.

My system (dubbed "the Giorgia system")

It all starts with the Saint-Tropez 200x200 cm XXL fouta. I spread it on the sand — its large size means it covers a wide area, with plenty of room for everything, my belongings, my bag, and even a surprise guest. It's my base. My headquarters.

At the top of the fouta, I place my Saint-Tropez inflatable beach pillow, because tanning with a rolled-up T-shirt under your head is a thing of the past.

And here's where some people roll their eyes: I place a second fouta, a 100x200 cm one this time, solely on the upper part — where I rest my head.

Why? Because I hate not knowing which way I used my fouta the day before. The large one stays clean longer, I don't wash it every day. The small one, however, is exclusively for my head — and I know that for sure. Hygiene, organization, peace of mind. Yes, all that for a fouta.

Why the Saint-Tropez in particular?

Because it ticks all the boxes. Its artisanal flat weave, made in Tunisia, gives it an impeccable hold even after numerous washes. It's lightweight despite its large size, absorbent, and dries in no time — which is significant when you're going from swimming to lunch on the terrace.

It comes in many colors, allowing you to coordinate (or not — depending on your temperament) with the rest of your beach gear.

And in the evening, it easily goes back into a bag, without dramatic creasing or the need for an XXL suitcase.

What I also like about the Saint-Tropez 200x200 is that it's not confined to summer. At home, I use it as a tablecloth for large gatherings — its neat finishes and generous dimensions make it an elegant alternative to a classic tablecloth. As a sofa throw in winter, it adds a relaxed and warm touch. As a bedspread in the guest room, it stylishly comes to the rescue.

One purchase, year-round uses. For someone accused of doing too much, it's paradoxically very reasonable.
